Lines: 43 Purple X's Moria for the Macintosh v1.0 has been released and should be avaliable via FTP from sumex-aim.stanford.edu and mac.archive.umich.edu in about a week, and should appear on comp.binaries.mac in three to four weeks. For New Zealanders it will be avaliable sometime next week at ftphost.aukuni.ac.nz. New in version 1.0 ----------------- * The game has been updated to UMoria 5.5.0, previous releases were of UMoria 5.4.0. UMoria 5.5.0 was released on 12 August 1992. * The Open File Dialog has been modified to optionally allow you to open any file. This makes the previously included application "Change Type to Moria Save" obsolete, thus it is no longer included in the distribution package. * The document "Wizard's Quest" is included. This is a written account of a game of Moria by David Grabiner. It contains lots of hints and useful advice for playing Moria. * "Font Size" window now implemented, and a new about box :-) * You can now "Save" or "Save As" a character and continue playing immediately, instead of having to reload the character after every save. * The game will now ask you if you want to save a new game or not when you quit or die. previously it was impossible to quit the game without saving the current character. It still automatically saves the current character when starting from a save file to keep it in line with the way UMoria works. * Some monsters were the wrong colour. This has been fixed. * Will now properly handle fonts that are not installed in a user's system. It now recognises VT100 and Prestige Elite without modification as well as Monaco and Courier. To add another font, just append it's name to the Font Menu using ResEdit. * the game always defaulted to Original commands ignoring what was set in the save file. This was reported by various people who like the rogue command set, and has been fixed. * spelling mistakes and typos have been fixed (ie "Show Wights in Inventory")
